Embla Bishop

Soprano

Musical Theatre singer Embla Bishop stared in Couch Opera Live Episode 3. 

Embla Bishop is a musical theatre performer originally from the UK currently living in Sydney.

 

Growing up in London in a Swedish speaking home, Embla’s first professional
appearance was in the West End musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (London
Palladium UK).

She went on to feature in two operas, La Boheme and The Magic
Flute (Farrer Theatre, Eton) before moving to Sydney in 2009.


During her time at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Embla appeared in The World Goes Round (dir. Nancye
Hayes), Legally Blonde (dir. Jason Langley). Bring it On! (dir. Jay James Moody) The
Drowsy Chaperone (dir.Crispin Taylor) and Christine Warner in The Beautiful Game
(dir. Meryl Tankard). In her second year Embla also received recognition for
her ABBA cabaret "IKEA" from the Jackman Furness Foundation.


Embla graduated from WAAPA with a Bachelor of Music Theatre in 2016 and since then her professional credits include Jesus Christ Superstar, Brigadoon (The
Production Company), Mrs Spencer in Merrily We Roll Along (Little
Triangle),Oklahoma! (The Production Company), Princess Aurora in Sleeping
Beauty (Ozpanto/Bonnie Lythgoe), A Little Cabaret (Little Triangle) and Charity Barnum and Jenny Lind Cover in Barnum (Storey Board Entertainment)

 

Embla’s film credits include SALLY (Thundamentals) and Maddison in Three Summers (dir. Ben
Elton) 2016.

 

Embla was a Semi Finalist in the 2018 Rob Guest Endownment Awards.
